I hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
Today, as I was reviewing the details of the boxes in my collection, I noticed I had a variation that was not accounted for in my “Detailed Box Description and Designations” post of Dec 14, 2014. I have a short box with rounded front and rear corners. Therefore, I went back to that post and revised it with a photo and description. Now I am tracking SIX different variations of our little boxes including Short Rounded (SR).
Within the last couple of days I have written letters to noted antiques or collectible experts to see if they have any information about other collectors or, the holy grail of my quest; ages and a chronology of the boxes! No responses yet. I’m not holding my breath.
Also, I am communicating with a young lady found at the Antique Lane Cedar Chests page on Facebook. She is reviewing my blog and may be able to fill in some blanks for me. I am looking forward to working with her!
In the last week or so picked up a couple Tall boxes at a local antique mall because they were inexpensive – around $10 each. If the boxes I find are more than $10, they need to be unique enough to get my attention – like a new variation, etc.. I still like the hunt though!
The reason I was reviewing my collection notes was to see if I can add anything further to my chronology – nothing yet to report.
Have a great New Years!
